There are generally three kinds of bearings for cooling fans, hydraulic bearings, oil bearing and ball bearing.
So what should we do when we choose fans?
Before that, let's know the difference between each bearing.
Sleeve Bearing is a sleeve bearing with sliding friction. Lubricating oil is used as lubricant and drag reducing agent. It has low running noise and low manufacturing cost in initial use. However, the wear and tear of this bearing is serious and its service life is far behind that of ball bearings. And this kind of bearing has a long time to use, because of the reason of oil seal (computer radiator products are impossible to use high-grade oil seal, commonly known as ordinary paper oil seal), lubricating oil will gradually volatilize, and dust will enter the bearing, which will cause fan speed slower, noise increase and other issues, serious also because of bearing grinding. Damage caused by fan eccentricity caused severe vibration. These phenomena occur, either open the oil seal to refuel, or only eliminate the purchase of new fans.
Ball bearings are divided into single and double balls.
Single Ball Bearing (1Ball+1 Sleeve Bearing) is an improvement of traditional oil bearing. It adopts the form of sliding friction and rolling friction mixing. In fact, it uses a ball bearing with an oil bearing to reduce the cost of double ball bearing. Its rotor and stator are lubricated by balls and lubricated by lubricating oil. 。 It overcomes the shortcomings of short service life and unstable operation of oil bearing, and the cost rise is very limited. Single ball bearing absorbs the advantages of oil bearing and double ball bearing, and increases the service life of the bearing to 40,000 hours. The disadvantage is that after adding the ball, the running noise increases, but it is still less than double ball bearing.
Two Ball Bearing (2Ball Bearing) is a relatively high-grade bearing. It uses rolling friction and two ball bearings. There are several tiny steel balls in the bearing around the axis. When the fan or the axis rotates, the steel balls rotate along with it. Because they are all spheres, the friction force is small and there is no oil leakage problem. Double ball bearings have the advantages of long service life, about 50,000-100,000 hours; good anti-aging performance, suitable for fans with high speed. The disadvantage of double ball bearings is the high manufacturing cost and the maximum noise at the same speed level. Double ball bearing and hydraulic bearing have better sealing performance, especially double ball bearing. The double ball bearing is embedded in the fan, and the rotating part has no direct contact with the outside world. In the sealed environment, the working environment of bearings is relatively stable. Therefore, almost all large caliber fans with 5000 rotating grades use double ball bearings. The hydraulic bearing has a unique return oil circuit, so the possibility of oil leakage is small.
